MO, 3/3/2017, SANDAKAN – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was greeted with loud applause from the public when he arrived at the newly-completed Taman Batu Sapi People’s Housing Project (PPR) here this morning.

Najib, who arrived in Sandakan with his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor last night, was on site to launch the opening of the new PPR flats here, worth RM32 million.

He was accompanied by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman; Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan; Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Tan Sri Noh Omar; and Batu Sapi Umno chief and Sekong assemblyman Datuk Samsuddin Yahya, among others.

The Taman Batu Sapi PPR, which was completed last year, has 180 units.

The PPR housing project initiative allows low income earners, who cannot afford housing down payments, to own a home by first renting a PPR unit from the government.

During the event, Najiib will tour the project and present mock keys to 10 new Taman Batu Sapi PPR home owners.

Later, the Prime Minister is scheduled to join local residents for Friday prayers at the nearby Wasatiyyah Mosque.

Najib is also slated to conduct a walkabout at Sandakan town centre late this afternoon, before flying to Kota Kinabalu, where he will attend a meeting with Sabah Umno leaders in the evening.
