SME Corp: Tube has created 3,420 jobs

MO,9/10/2017, KOTA BELUD: A three-year entrepreneurship training programme has produced more than 1,000 young people to start businesses and create jobs for others.

Introduced by SME Corp Malaysia in 2014, the programme, dubbed as “Program Tunas Usahawan Belia Bumiputera” or Tube, has the objective of boosting people’s income through business.

SME Corp chairman Tan Sri Mohamed Al Amin Abdul Majid said 1,425 youths had registered their business upon completion of the training.

“They created 3,420 jobs and recorded sales worth RM39.8million,” he said during the Tube Mega at National Training Service (NST) camp launch, here, recently.

Present at the launching ceremony were International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk
Seri Mustapa Mohamed and Kota Belud member of parliament Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan.

TheTube Mega launch was also held simultaneously at nine camps from other states with another 1,000 intake expected at 10 NST camps nationwide, from initial 500 participants.

The participants will have to go through three phases with “boot-camp” concept training and business basics workshop for
three weeks at their respective camps.

Those who have completed the training and registered their businesses are entitled for a starting grant of RM15,000 for each startup.

SME Corp Malaysia counselors will be monitoring and guiding those new in business for a
year.

This programme also engages strategic partners, including from the Higher Education Ministry, Youth and Sports Ministry and Economic Planning Unit.
