Vell Paari: ‘Save your bakery first Tun M’

MO,16/4/2018, KUALA LUMPUR: The MIC has panned Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad over the former premier’s claims that he would “save Malaysia” within 100-days if the Opposition gained control of Putrajaya in the 14th General Election (GE14). Party Treasurer – General Datuk Seri S. Vell Paari questioned how the 93-year old planned to do it when he “couldn’t even save his bakery of 12-years from bankruptcy.”

Referring to The Loaf Bakery, Vell Paari said Dr Mahathir at first denied and then made a U-turn in less than 24 hours by confirming he was the shareholder of M & M Consolidated Resources Sdn. Bhd, which operated the bakery. “It is unbelievable and to be honest hillarious that Dr Mahathir would even lie that he owned the bakery. “Taking a business approach on this matter, Dr Mahathir said he needed to close the bakery business because he could not find investors.

“This is also very worrying that as a PM – designate, if Dr Mahathir can’t even find investors for his bakery business, how is he going to find investors to invest in Malaysia and develop the country?,” he said in a statement. Noting that Dr Mahathir had a minimum of three billionaires in his family, Vell Paari questioned why the latter’s family could not invest in the business. “Some of them had invested hundreds of millions of USD to safe a beer factory in Philippines and its Filipino workers but could not have the empathy to save the bakery business that employs Malaysians.

“Without having investors to invest in the country, there will be no progress, no jobs and there might be a high number of layoffs. The rakyat will suffer the same fate as the staff of The Loaf due to Dr Mahathir’s incompetency,” he said. Vell Paari said just as Dr Mahathir had lied that he did not own The Loaf and then made a U-turn in admitting that he was the real owner, he would also lie and make a U-turn on all his promises if the Opposition came into power.

“This is just all a political ploy to fish for votes in the coming general election. “Finally, Dr Mahathir, it is not Malaysia under the leadership of Datuk Seri Najib Razak that has gone bankrupt as per the Opposition propaganda but The Loaf under your leadership,” he said.
